Jerry Bellamy

Thank you for the honor for the nomination to Beaver Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame. I started playing organized basketball in 8^th grade. While I was eating lunch in Junior High School, Coach Delocato saw the size of my hands, called my mom and made me go to basketball practice.

During the following year, I played varsity. In 10^th grade, in Section 8AA, I was honorable mention.  In 11^th grade, I was section 8AA co-MVP and in 12^th grade, I was section 8AA MVP. I also received the prestigious Paul Jones award.

I was honored to be selected to play in the Dapper Dan Round Ball Classic.

At Beaver Area High School, I averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds. I was also listed in “Streets and Smith Magazine.”

Following graduation from high school, I attended University of Florida on a full basketball scholarship.  I then served in U.S. Air Force with honorable discharge.

Following my service in the Air Force, I worked for Hewlett-Packard for 20 years as a distribution supervisor.  I then worked for Office Depot for 20 years as a distribution specialist, before retiring.

I now live in the small rural town, Corning, California with my wife. My daughter lives in Berkeley, California and my step-son lives in Corning
